Consultation: Requirements for internationally qualified ATs beginning work in New Zealand

We’re consulting with anaesthetic technicians and stakeholders on changes to requirements for internationally qualified ATs beginning work here in Aotearoa New Zealand.

 We hope you’ll participate by giving your feedback on the proposed changes and complete the online survey here. This consultation closes at 5pm on Monday 23 June 2025.

 The Council is proposing to adopt a recertification programme for internationally qualified ATs beginning work in Aotearoa New Zealand for the first time. It includes:

 Supervision - similar to that applied to New Graduate ATs\Education about the New Zealand health system.
