The Council has updated the Competence Standards for Anaesthetic Technicians in Aotearoa New Zealand.The amendment was for the Competence Standards for Anaesthetic Technicians under Domain 5 to holding of CORE Immediate (not CORE Advanced as previously stated).
The Council is pleased to publish its Cultural Competence Standards. This can be downloaded from the Council's Publications tab.
In April 2018 the Medical Sciences Council issued a communique outlining the outcomes of its consultation in respect of a review of the Anaesthetic Technician scope of practice. The Council has revised its guidelines for anaesthetic technicians wishing to perform expanded practice activities. The guidelines also provide information for employers interested in adding another expanded practice to the list of activities approved by the Council. Click here to read the revised guidelines
The Council recently consulted on its draft policy pertaining to practitioners working in a locum capacity. In September 2018 the Medical Sciences Council (the Council) published a consultation document in respect of the fees it charges practitioners. The Council extends its thanks and appreciation to the individuals and groups who provided feedback to the consultation.
